UNDER 10 EAST TRAINING - FRIDAYS - GERRY GREEN RESERVE AT 4.30PM

COACH'S REPORT

Hi Everyone,

Last Sunday we ventured down the road to play Dingley at Dingley.
The Captains for the day were Ethan Marshall and Brendon Green and the game started in light rain.

We spoke before the game about the ball being greasy and the importance of getting to the ball first, as on the small ground it was even more important to control the ball.

Also it was mentioned that we needed to win the games against the teams we had previously beaten to show that we had maintained our improvement.

We started off quite well and kicked the first goal, however Dingley was putting up a great performance and at qtr time it was Mordi Brae 2-1 t0 Dingley 1-1.

The 2nd qtr was a replica of the first with  our boys playing good football and Dingley working extremely hard to match it with us and as a result the half time score was Mordi Brae 2-1 to Dingley 1-1.

At the half time break it was reiterated that we need to get to the ball first as it appeared that Dingley was as desperate at the contest as we were.

The 3rd qtr was a great improvement and we worked hard to get to the ball first and then drive the ball quickly into the forward line.

As a result of this we reaped the rewards and piled on 5-3 to Dingley’s  0-1 with the 3 qtr time score Mordi Brae 8-5 to Dingley 2-3.

It was important that we finished the game off  properly and the boys ran it out to the siren and the final score was Mordi Brae 10-7 to Dingley 4-5.

The game was a good 4 qtr effort and hopefully we can finish the season with another great 4 qtr effort this week as all the teams are very close and one poor qtr can be the difference between winning and losing.

I would also like to make a special mention of Charlie Yee, who copped an elbow to the face and came off with a cut and swollen lip, and even though he could have sat out the last qtr as we had a good lead, he wanted to come back onto the ground to finish the game and help his teammates.

So let’s  make sure we give it our all in the last game this Sunday against Waverley.

Goal Kickers were Kyle 2 and singles to Deakin Fuller, Mitch Hart, Lachlan Lamble, Sam Maine, Ethan Marshall, Steve Newell Sarkis and Blake O ‘Leary.

Congratulations to Sam and Deakin on their first goals for the season.
