Round 13 Mordi Brae 4.10.34 def Highett 5.2.32
Sunday saw us playing Highett at home on the bottom oval, earlier on this season we played a fantastic game against them, falling 2 points short a the final siren
Highett are ladder leaders, and have only lost 1 game this season. Personally I was confident we could knock them off, but to do so we would need a contribution from every player.
We started well, but inaccurate kicking saw us kick 1.3 in the first quarter but we still held away by 6 points at 1/4 time.
The second quarter saw us kick 1.1 to 1.0 to take a 7 point lead in at half time, everybody was playing well and contributed to the half time lead.
In the third quarter Highett had the better of us adding 2.2 to 1.1, and the game was level at 3/4 time.
In the final quarter both teams put their bodies on the line but it was Mordi who prevailed by 2 points, 4.10.34 to 5.2.32.
As I said before, to beat Highett we needed an even contribution from all the boys and they certainly delivered with everyone playing well.
Well done Jack on kicking his first goal for Mordi Brae, his kicking skills and his endeavour improves every game.
Corey, Laurence and Eric were our other goal scorers, the awards went to Maros -Jack: McDonalds - Brendan S, Geordie, Nick, Laurence Canteen - Jared Grill'd - Julian for another great game.
Good games were also played by Jai, Pat, Mason, Sam, Harry, Corey, Brendan M, Devlin, Liam, Daniel, james, Eric, Laurence, Jack, Jacob and Will, bad luck to Johnny Boland who broke his arm and will the miss the rest of the season, but as the fantastic team man he is, he was there on Sunday supporting his team mates, well done John.
We play Friday night this week against East Malvern White, who are 3rd on the ladder, and if we maintain the endeavour, intensity and team play we did last game, it should be another close game that we can win.
