Welcome to the 2010 Footy Season

 Preliminary Final.

 From The Bench.....

The Team played at Le Page Park Cheltenham in front of a large crowd who had come to watch two teams try their hardest to earn the right to play off in the Grand Final...both teams deserved their chance as both teams have played good football throughout the season, the team was very talkative in the rooms before the game and were quietly confident as we were coming into the finals in form.Waverley had beaten us twice this season by big scores but the team has improved their skills since those encounters.

Once again Josh lost the toss i think by memory he may have won the toss twice throughout the season....we were kicking against a strong breeze in the first term so everybody new their roles...forwards playing in front and backline making a contest with plenty of pressure and the midfielders manning up,the opposition with their long kicking aided by the breeze kicked 4 goals to us 1 goal and we went into the first break 21 points down.

Second term Mick instructed the team to attack on the members side we had plenty of opportunities inside 50 with 6 shots at goal converting 2 goals to the opposition 1 goal to go 14 points down at the main break,at half time Mick told the group not to panic and that they were in with a chance if they stuck to the game plan and played with determination and put their bodies over the ball,we were not having much luck with the bounce of the ball but thats football.

Third Term was going to be the quarter for either side if they wanted to play next week....we kicked 2 goals against the breeze with some great teamwork with running and sharing the ball the team lifted and kept pushing the ball forward they looked full of run and confidence going into the last term 13 points down coming home with the breeze.

At the break Mick simply told the team it was up to them he could not say or do anything more for them except give them plenty of encouragement and to believe in themselves, the rotations were frantic from the bench and every kick forward had everybody behind it,we had plenty of opportunities inside 50 having 9 shots at goal only converting 2 goals, the game went down to the wire as the team kept pushing forward but were beaten by the clock to go down by 2 points,

The whole team gave it their best effort and let me tell you they left everything out there,we as a team would like to thank all the supporters for coming down to get behind them it was fantastic to see the ground covered with red and white,i would like to personally on behalf of the players thank Mick for all his time and effort he has put into this group developing their skills and giving them the opportunity to develop as an individual and i thank Mick for allowing me to play a part this season with such a fantastic group. Also a big thank you to those parents who came down and assisted with training.
